Be safe in the sun. Sunburn can ruin a holiday, and sunburn is very bad for the body too, so make sure you are sensible in the sun. If you are going to be out in the sun for a long time, make sure you use a high factor sun cream. If you are trying to get a tan, then plan your tanning routine sensibly, using higher factor sun creams to begin with and gradually reducing the factor. Plan how long you can safely stay in hot sun and do not go over your time limit.

Be sensible when swimming in the sea. Look for beaches that have lifeguards, and ask locals where it is safe to swim, or only swim where you can see lots of locals are swimming. If in any doubt, don't risk it, as there may be dangerously strong currents and tides.
